Fabrizio was looking for a good donor bike to build a café racer for Enrico. In a dusty corner of a used bikes’ shop, there was an abandoned 1985 BMW R80. Given the availability of the shop manager to bargain, a week after the bike was in the hands of our heroes. The bike had been sleeping for more than two years and recovering it took five months. Everything was done in house. The wheels were repainted black and equipped with new tires. The bike was completely stripped down and the entire engine and transmission painted black. Same treatment for the fork legs, shortened by 4 cm and equipped with new oil seals. The nice original tank was maintained and eventually repainted. The seat was handmade inspired by that of a BMW90S but shorter than about 20 cm. The new foot pegs and controls are Tarozzi. The headlight, smaller than the original, comes from an old 350 with new custom brackets. The new gauge is a modern aftermarket component. The ignition key was moved where there was the seat lock. The exhaust pipes and mufflers are new custom parts. The fenders, unnecessary frills, have been eliminated. The airbox was removed and new conic filters installed on the Bing carburettors. Now the bike is able to gain 1500 rpm, maybe more. Where once there was the airbox now there is the battery. "When the engine started, we where excited - Fabrizio says - We got even a bigger joy when we discover that driving this bike is better than we expected. I was able to accomplish my goal: to give a new identity to a bike designed for a completely different use. During the evenings out along the streets of Rome we enjoy so much finding the right dimension of riding, gently led without getting tired, the bike fits gracefully in the curves, always ready to get out safely, giving us a lot of satisfaction".

Fabrizio cercava una buona base per realizzare una special per Enrico. In un salone dell'usato, impolverata e abbandonata in angolo, quasi dimenticata c’era una BMW R80 del 1985. Considerata la disponibilità del titolare del negozio a trattare sul prezzo, una settimana dopo la moto era nelle mani dei due. Era stata ferma da più di due anni e sistemarla ha preso ben cinque mesi. E’ stato fatto tutto in casa. Le ruote sono state riverniciate in nero e dotate di nuovi pneumatici. La moto è stata interamente spogliata e il motore. completo di trasmissione, è stato verniciato di nero. Idem gli steli forcella, accorciati di 4 cm e con nuovi paraoli. Il bel serbatoio originale è stato mantenuto. La sella è stata fatta artigianalmente, ispirata a quella di una BMW90S ma più corta di circa 20 cm. Le nuove pedane sono Tarozzi. Il fanale, più piccolo dell’originale, arriva da una vecchia 350 e ha nuovi supporti autocostruiti. Lo strumento è un moderno pezzo aftermarket. La chiave di accensione è stata spostata al posto della serratura della sella. Nuovi i collettori di scarico e i due terminali. I parafanghi, inutili orpelli, sono stati eliminati. Eliminato l’airbox e montati nuovi filtri conici sui Bing, ora la moto riesce a guadagnare 1500 giri e forse più. Dove una volta c'era l’airbox ora c’è la batteria. “Grande emozione all'avviamento del motore - Racconta Fabrizio - ancora più grande la gioia nello scoprire che la guida è meglio di quello che era nella nostra immaginazione. Sono riuscito a realizzare il mio obiettivo, avendo dato una nuova identità ad una moto concepita per tutt'altro uso. Nelle uscite serali per le strade di Roma ci divertiamo davvero tanto trovando una giusta dimensione nella guida di questa moto, che si lascia condurre dolcemente senza stancare, inserendosi leggiadra in curva pronta ad uscirne sicura, regalandoci tanta soddisfazione”.

Vale's "I shocked the sherif" Inazuma

Shark tales... Last Sunday, Valentino actually shocked the Sheriff of Vallarsa, in Trentino (Italy). While riding along the so called Plan delle Fugasse with his Inazuma, he was stopped by the Police, his bike was found street illegal, immediately seized, and its documents withdrawn. This is a really sad story, as it's highly improbable that this "Sherif shocker" GSX will be ever seen riding around in the future... Valentino wants to warn all riders who want to travel in the area to be careful with their bikes' specs as the local patrols are very strict! I hope that the pics of his commiserated Inaz will relief Valentino's understandable pain.

Shark tales. Domenica scorsa, Valentino ha effettivamente shockato lo sceriffo di Vallarsa in Trentino. Durante la guida lungo il cosiddetto Plan delle fugasse con la sua Inazuma, è stato fermato dalla polizia, la sua moto ritenuta irregolarmente modificata e sequestrata ed i relativi documenti ritirati. E' una storia davvero triste, visto che è altamente improbabile che questa GSX "Sherif shocker" verrà mai più vista in giro in futuro... Valentino vuole mettere in guardia tutti i motociclisti che vogliono viaggiare nella zona di tener conto della particolare severità delle pattuglie locali! Spero che le foto della sua compianta Ina gli allevieranno il comprensibile dolore.
