R Nine T "Francisca"

It was unavoidable that someone was not satisfied of the several options of transformation of the stock R nine T. The  Bergamo BMW dealer Perego Motorrad has in fact given one of these bikes to the local workshop  Punto di Fuga Motorcycles (transl. Vanishing Point MC), to get a captivating street tracker.. Era inevitabile che qualcuno non si accontentasse delle già numerose possibilità di trasformazione della nuovissima BMW. A Bergamo, la locale concessionaria BMW Perego Motorrad ha infatti affidato una di queste moto a Punto di Fuga Motociclette, per ottenerne una accattivante street tracker... The PDF team got the bike only few days before the official presentation, which took place on March 15 in front of the top management of BMW Motorrad Italy. They had to work hard to complete the job on time and give the bike a touch of originality without spoiling the fine qualities of the brand new donor bike. The project involved sandblasting and hand finishing the original aluminum tank. Same finishing has been paid to the new custom front fender, in aluminium as well. The new taillight is a vintage looking circular component equipped with LED lights. The registration plate was moved to the right side of the bike, on the swingarm and installed on a custom bracket. The LED turn indicators are new. Two handmade aluminum number plates were placed on the sides. Finally, the exhausts and the sport handlebar were wrapped in racing tape to give the bike a wild look.

solo pochi giorni prima della presentazione, avvenuta lo scorso 15
marzo di fronte ai vertici della BMW Motorrad Italia. Hanno dovuto darsi
da fare per completare il lavoro in tempo e donare alla moto un tocco
di originalità senza stravolgere la raffinata base di partenza. Il
progetto ha previsto la carteggiatura e rifinitura a mano del serbatoio
originale in alluminio. Stessa finitura superficiale è stata riservata
al nuovo parafango anteriore custom, pure in alluminio. Il nuovo
fanalino posteriore è un elemento circolare dal sapore vintage, ma
dotato di luci LED, mentre la targa è stata spostata sul forcellone a
destra, su un supporto realizzato appositamente. Nuovi i piccoli
indicatori di direzione a LED. Sui fianchi sono state posizionate due
tabelle porta numero in alluminio realizzate a mano. Collettori di
scarico e manubrio a piega bassa sono stati bendati per conferire un
aspetto selvatico.

“We were contacted a couple of month ago by Frank. His question was if we could built a classy scrambler with a wild touch!” Frank wanted a BMW, and Richard and Lex found him a 1978 R80-7 in good condition… 

“Un paio di mesi fa, Frank ci ha contattato per chiederci se potevamo realizzare per lui una scrambler di classe con un tocco selvatico!”. Frank voleva una BMW, e Richard e Lex gli hanno trovato una BMW R80-7 del 1978 in buone condizioni…

“Of course we were challanged, because nowaday's you see many variants of beemers and we know they are very popular. Our client had a few wishes but gave us 'carte blanche' to start the project. The engine was luckily in good condition, we only had to replace the clutch plates. Frame parts were powdercoated and tank-fenders were painted matt black to create a used look “. They kept the original wheels but replaced the tyres with a couple of Dunlop Trailmax… “to get a better grip and, of course, the good look!”

“Di certo è stata una sfida. Perchè oggi giorno si vedono diverse versioni di Beemers e sappiamo che sono molto popolari. Il nostro cliente ci ha dato delle indicazioni di massima, ma ci ha lasciato carta bianca su come realizzare il progetto. Il motore per fortuna era in buone condizioni e abbiamo dovuto solo rifare la frizione. Il telaio è stato riverniciato a polvere e abbiamo dato alla carrozzeria un colore nero opaco per conferirle un aspetto vissuto”. Alla LHC hanno mantenuto le ruote originali ma hanno cambiato I pneumatici con dei Dunlop Trailmax… “Per un miglior grip e, naturalmente, perché sono belli da vedere!”

In order to have the proper scrambler look, LHC chose a BSA handlebar from USA and wrapped it with black tape. The custom seat seat has a red wine colour scheme which Richard and Lex think it’s pefect for their beemer. “Last but not least, the mufflers are Megaton and they give the bike (you gonna love it..) a brutal sound !!"

Per conferire il giusto aspetto scrambler, alla LHC hanno scelto un manubrio cross BSA di produzione USA e lo hanno ricoperto di natro nero. La sella artigianale è color vinaccia e Richard e lex la ritengono perfetta per la loro Beemer. "Per ultimo, ma non meno importante, gli scarichi sono megaton e danno alla moto un suono brutale (fighissimo)!!"
